DadLabs Expands Brand with Publishing Deal

dadlabssite.pngIn a further effort to monetize web video brands, the original web video network, DadLabs - Taking Back Paternity, executive produced by New York City based online media company For Your Imagination, announced today that the creators of the show have secured a book deal for the tentatively titled “The Due Dads Book.” The book is a follow-up to the highly popular DadLabs Due Dads DVD series released in mid-2007.

Scheduled for publication in conjunction with Father’s Day 2009 by Philadelphia based publisher Quirk Books, the book will be positioned as the antithesis to the typical pregnancy books geared towards expectant parents, particularly fathers.

With chapters entitled “Bring Change for the Snack Machine: Our Greatest Delivery Room Tips,” “Dads Put the Art in Post-Partum” and “Sex is Overrated and Other Lies Dads Tell Themselves,” the irreverent and unique views on parenting that DadLabs share on their popular web series are sure to be conveyed in the book.

”Quirk is the perfect fit for DadLabs.  They appreciate that while parenting is the most important work we do, it's also absurd, hilarious and frequently punctuated with excretions,” said DadLabs’ Chief Creative Officer, Clay Nichols.  “This book will be an important continuation in our effort to promote an active conversation about fatherhood in this country.”

Created by three former teachers and originating from Austin, Texas, the DadLabs network of shows clearly stands out among other parenting content available online by providing its unique perspective.  The targeted shows have an obvious male slant, targeting 25-44 current and future fathers and have surpassed 1 million views in a only few months. New videos can be seen on www.dadlabs.com as well as popular online video sites such as YouTube, Viddler, Revver and iTunes.
